BRIEF BACKGROUND
340+ MT Generated | 96%+ Utilised | 100% The Goal
From Ash to a Greener Tomorrow.
India’s Ash Utilisation Notification, 2021, places the primary responsibility on every coal- and lignite-based Thermal Power Plant to ensure 100% utilisation of ash in an eco-friendly manner. The framework operates through a three-year utilisation cycle, supported by environmental compensation under the Polluter Pays Principle.
100%
Mandatory ash utilisation target
3 YEARS
Compliance cycle for achieving 100% utilisation
₹1,000/MT
Environmental compensation for specified utilisation shortfalls
10 YEARS
Staggered timeframe for utilisation of legacy ash accumulated before the notification
Fly ash is no longer simply a by-product of thermal power generation—it is a resource with significant environmental, economic and infrastructure potential. As India moves towards higher levels of ash utilisation, the industry must address the practical challenges across the entire value chain: ash quality, collection and handling, transportation, technology, end-use applications, market development, pricing, policy and compliance.
FROM MANDATE TO MARKET
The regulatory framework has established 100% ash utilisation as the objective. The next challenge is creating the technologies, markets and commercial pathways that can make this objective sustainable at scale.
FLY ASH UTILISATION 2027 – 16th Edition provides a dedicated platform for power generators, cement and construction companies, infrastructure developers, technology providers, logistics players, policymakers, researchers and end-users to examine these challenges and identify practical solutions.
THREE DAYS. ONE FOCUSED PLATFORM.
Across 21–23 January 2027, the three-day residential conference at White Wharf Beach Resort, Goa will bring together industry and experts for focused discussions covering:
Policy & Regulation • Technology & Innovation • Ash Quality & Management • Logistics & Transportation • Construction & Infrastructure • New Applications & Markets • Legacy Ash • R&D & Commercialisation
The objective is simple:
MOVE FROM ASH DISPOSAL TO ASH UTILISATION — AND FROM UTILISATION TO VALUE CREATION.
Encourages sustainable engineering and innovation in fly ash utilisation.
Drives adoption of fly ash-based green building materials in urban development.
Promotes circular economy and large-scale reuse of industrial by-products.
Supports CO₂ reduction through clinker factor optimisation and sustainable construction.
Encourages clean ash handling, dry extraction, and controlled utilisation.
Promotes compliance with 100% utilisation norms through industry recognition.
Supports decarbonisation and energy-efficient cement manufacturing.
Enables sustainable construction of highways, railways, ports, airports and smart cities.
Positions fly ash as a priority circular material for national resource efficiency.
We invite interested organisations to support the Fly Ash Utilisation - 2027 as Sustainability Partner and join India’s transition toward a cleaner, resource-efficient, and sustainable future.
