The Gasification Technologies & Research Council of India (GTRC-India) is a national industry platform established under Mission Energy Foundation to accelerate the advancement of gasification technologies across coal, lignite, biomass, waste-to-energy, hydrogen and allied sectors.

Serving as a strategic bridge between industry, technology developers and policymakers, GTRC-India represents stakeholders across India’s rapidly evolving coal gasification, coal-to-chemicals and downstream manufacturing ecosystem. Over the past decade, the Council has convened more than 1,500 companies and 2,800 industry leaders, experts and policymakers through over 16 high-impact national conferences, policy dialogues and strategic industry forums.

GTRC-India further aims to strengthen India’s gasification ecosystem by enabling industry partnerships, research collaborations, and strategic discussions aligned with the nation’s energy transition and decarbonisation objectives.

2008
Mission Energy Foundation Established with a vision to create a collaborative platform for India's energy, environment and industrial sectors through knowledge exchange and stakeholder engagement.

2013
Championing Gasification in India, Mission Energy Foundation launched dedicated initiatives to promote coal gasification, bringing together policymakers, technology providers, industry leaders and researchers through conferences and technical forums.

2013–2025
With building the national ecosystem, successfully organised numerous national conferences, technical forums and stakeholder engagements, bringing together thousands of delegates, hundreds of organisations and experts from India and abroad. These platforms facilitated policy dialogue, technology exchange and industry collaboration, contributing to the evolution of India's gasification ecosystem.

2025
Formed GTRC-India to recoganise the growing national momentum around gasification, Mission Energy Foundation established the Gasification Technologies & Research Council of India (GTRC-India) as an industry-led national platform to provide institutional leadership and strengthen collaboration across the gasification value chain.

2026
GTRC-India constituted its Governing Board and four Strategic Councils, bringing together distinguished leaders from Government, Public Sector Enterprises, Industry, Academia and Research Institutions to guide India's gasification journey.
